Western Railway Station (Nyugati pályaudvar) is situated at one of the main traffic junctions of the downtown, at the meeting point of Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út - Váci út - Nagykörút. The underground M3 (blue line) runs under the railway station and the two busiest trams of Budapest (nr. 4 and 6 on the Grand Boulevard) runs in front of the main entrance. The first railway line of Hungary, between Pest and Vác started from here in 1846. The building of the Western railway station was planned by the Austrian August de Serres architecture and the company of Gustaye Eiffel (famous for the Eifel Tower) and it was opened to the public on 28th October 1877. The iron frame hall was considered very modern in that age and it is spectacular also nowadays. The facade of the building is an important element of the cityscape.

How to reach the other two large railway station from Nyugati:
- Eastern Railway Station (Keleti pályaudvar): It is the 6th stop (the terminal) without change by trolley bus nr. 73 (ca. 15-20 minutes). Or the 2nd stop by the M3 metro until Deák tér (Deák Square), and from there 3 stops by M2 metro (red line) in the direction of Örs Vezér tér (ca. 15-20 minutes).
- Southern Railway Station (Déli pályaudvar): Take metro M3 (blu line) until Deák Square (Deák tér) which is the 2nd stop and from there take metro M2 (red line) until Southern Railway Station (Déli pu.) which is the last stop. (1 change, ca. 20 minutes).
