The Lake Hévíz is the largest lake with biologically active water and peat bottom of the world. The thermal water of the lake of 4.4 hectare comes from a crater situated in 38 meter depth and its average temperature is 33-35 °C in summer, but it falls below 23°C in winter. The water output is so abundant that the water is changed in every 48 hours. There is a pool house of 2500 mq converted for winter use, in the middle of the lake, but the swimming possibility is provided in all year also in the open-air.
The water of the Lake Hévíz which contains magnesium, hydrogen-carbonate and carbonic-acid, and the slightly radioactive mud which is brought up from the bottom of the lake, are used particularly to cure rheumatic and locomotive diseases during even more weeks cures, but due to its rich mineral substances it is also advised for other problems or health-preserving.
