The most valuable work of its gallery is the Jesus-Trilogy painted by Mihály Munkácsy.
The Debrecen Flower Festival, held on 20th August of every year, is one of the best known events of Hungary. The Nagyerdő (large park), which is also called as the lung of Debrecen, offers pleasant excursions to the visitors. The Debrecen Arboretum, the botanic garden of the University of Debrecen, has a past of 200 years. You can find about 800 species (rock garden plants, medicinal plants, forever greens, different types of pine nuts trees). The famous cactus collection includes 2500 species.
The Zoo was built in the quiet environment of the Debrecen Nagyerdő. Animals coming from local and exotic lands attract also the children and adults. In the vicinity of the zoo lies the Amusement Park. You can travel the whole establishment by a small train and seating on the ferris wheel you can see the green belt located in the suburb of the city from the high.
